Chelsea defender David Luiz is not a target for Barcelona due to the player’s asking priceĀ according to Mundo Deportivo.

Barca technical director Robert Fernandez is believed to be a fan of the centre back but the Catalan club are not willing to spend the amount that Chelsea would want for the player.

Catalunya Radio reported that the Brazilian international was in Spain to have treatment on his knee, but he also had “several meetings” with Barca officials to offer his services to the La Liga side.

Luiz is said to have fallen out with Blues boss Antonio Conte after the 3-0 defeat to Roma in October. He started just one game after that incident, and was a substitute in three others, before he was sidelined with an injury.

Barcelona are seeking a new centre back with Javier Mascherano looking likely to depart for the Chinese Super League in the January transfer window. It seems as though Luiz wanted the Catalan side to consider him as a potential signing but it looks like Barca are seeking a more economical option instead.
