Anderlecht and Liverpool will challenge Chelsea for Red Star Belgrade striker Richmond Boakye, according to Het Nieuwsblad (via voetbalbelgie.be).

The Ghanaian international worked with Blues boss Antonio Conte at Juventus, and has been tipped in recent weeks to join up with the Italian again at Stamford Bridge.

Het Nieuwsblad however report that Anderlecht are keen to beat the Blues to Boakye’s signature, and they believe that €5million (£4.5m) will be enough to convince Red Star into selling the 24 year old during the January transfer window.

The forward has an excellent record for the Serbian club. After joining from Italian side Latina in January, on an initial loan deal, he has scored an impressive 33 goals in 44 appearances in all competitions.

Last week, in an interview with TMW, Boakye expressed his admiration for Conte and stated he would be “happy” to join up with the Italian at another club in the future.

Chelsea face Swansea at home in their next Premier League match, and will be strong favourites to win the match.
