Former Sporting Lisbon right back Pedro Silva has told Sporting winger Gelson Martins that he should consider leaving the Portuguese club and make a move to a club like Chelsea.

The 22 year old is seen as one of Portugal’s brightest young prospects, and speaking to Portuguese publication O Jogo (quotes via noticiasaominuto.com), Silva believes Martins would command a sizeable transfer fee if he were to be sold to Chelsea or another club:

“He has a fantastic evolution, he is a player to go to Real Madrid, Barcelona or Chelsea, but they will have to pay a lot for him.”

Martins has had a good start to the season for Sporting, having scored five goals and contributed five assists in 18 games this campaign. He generally plays on the right wing, and is known for his burst of pace.

Despite being relatively young, he has already been capped 15 times for Portugal’s senior side, but he is yet to get off the mark for the national team. As one of the Europe’s best young talents, Martins will no doubt have a number of potential suitors, but whether one of those is Chelsea, it remains to be seen.
