Chelsea are one of four clubs monitoring Inter Milan’s contract discussions with striker Mauro Icardi, according to AS.
The Spanish newspaper reports that the Blues have been joined by Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain in keeping an eye on the Argentinian international’s situation.
Icardi currently has a €110m (£97m) buyout clause which can be triggered at any time. To prevent this from happening, AS are reporting that Inter have offered the 24 year old a new deal with a wage rise of €2million a season to a total of €7million a year (£119,000 a week). The offer would also extend his current contract by two years to 2023.
Earlier this month, Chelsea were linked with signing the Argentine, and breaking their transfer record to do so, but AS say that Real are also stepping up their interest in the striker. So far this season Icardi has scored 15 goals in 14 league games for the Nerazzurri.
