Roma are considering a bid for Chelsea right back Davide Zappacosta, according to Football-Italia.net.

The 25 year old only signed for the Blues in the summer for an initial £22.5m, but the Serie A side are desperately looking for options to cover for full back Rick Karsdorp.

The Dutch international was signed from Feyenoord for £12.6m in the summer but he sustained a serious knee injury on his debut against Crotone back in October.

Football Italia report that Roma’s sporting director Monchi is drawing up a list of transfer targets for the January transfer window to improve their options at right back.

The shortlist reportedly includes Barcelona’s Aleix Vidal, Atletico Madrid’s Sime Vrsajlko, Manchester United’s Matteo Darmian and Zappacosta. Among the four options, the Blues defender is seen as the least likely.

Not only has the Italian international just moved to London, he has started the last two league games against Bournemouth and Manchester United, helping to keep clean sheets in both games.
