Barcelona will consider a summer approach for Chelsea right back Cesar Azpilicueta, according to El Gol Digital.

The Catalan side are trying to offload Aleix Vidal who has failed to impress under both Luis Enrique and current manager Ernesto Valverde, and they are seeking competition for the club’s main right back Nelson Semedo.

Real Sociedad’s young full back Alvaro Odriozola was being tracked as a potential signing but El Gol report that the 21 year old has his heart set on a switch to rivals Real Madrid instead.

The lack of interest from Odriozola will force Barca into looking for plan B, and it is believed Azpilicueta would be preferred alternative. The La Liga club however know that the possibility of signing the 29 year old is currently “remote.”

Barca are however hoping that the defender could become unsettled if there is more uncertainty at the club with manager Antonio Conte having been consistently linked with leaving Stamford Bridge.
