Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is set to play hard ball with the Blues in order to get a much improved new contract, according to HLN.

The Belgian publication believes the 25 year old is willing to stay at Stamford Bridge, but he is prepared to use interest from Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid in order to get the £200,000 a week contract he wants.

It is believed that the Blues are willing to go far in order to agree a new deal with Courtois but the Belgian international is a fiercely ambitious footballer, and wants to win the Champions League to go along with the domestic titles he has won at both Atletico Madrid and Chelsea.

A return to Spain is said to be strong pull for the Belgian as he matured into a top class goalkeeper during his time in Madrid, and effectively grew up there, moving from being a teenage keeper into a senior player in the space of a few years.

A lot will depend on how far Chelsea are prepared to go to match Courtois’s salary demands. The stopper rejected a deal at the start of the season, and it now looks like negotiations will be postponed until he has just 12 months left on his contract, placing him in a very strong position in negotiations.
