Chelsea winger Willian has refuted claims in the Brazilian media that he is set to return to Brazil in the January transfer window to play for Palmeiras.

Journalist Sandro Barboza had revealed on Twitter that the midfielder was in negotiations to come back to his home country, but Willian responded to the tweet by denying that neither he nor his agent had been party to such discussions. His tweet (translated by TeamTalk.com) said:

“Hello Sandro, all right? Sorry, but I’m not negotiating with Palmeiras and my agent has received no contact from the club. I have no plans to return to Brazil right now. A hug!”

The midfielder has also been heavily linked with Manchester United to join up with former manager Jose Mourinho in recent days. The Brazilian revealed in the summer that he had been contacted by United, but was never close to leaving Stamford Bridge for Old Trafford.

Willian’s performances for the Blues this season have been questioned by some fans, and he is still waiting to score his first goal in the Premier League this campaign despite having made 12 appearances, although he hasn’t started in the league since the end of September.
