Four teams are continuing their pursuit of Napoli forward Dries Mertens, according to the Corriere Dello Sport.

Chelsea were mentioned by the Belgian international when he turned down the chance to leave the Serie A side in the summer, but it seems they are no longer one of the clubs that want to sign the prolific striker.

The Corriere Dello Sport says that Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United and Bayern Munich are all determined to sign the 30 year old. The forward signed a new contract at the end of last season but reportedly has a £25m buyout clause that can be activated by any team next summer.

Mertens has once again been in red hot goalscoring form for Napoli, following his 34 goals last campaign with 12 this season already. Chelsea were likely pursuing the striker before they signed Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata last summer, and the Spaniard’s performances this campaign have likely cooled the club’s interest in the Serie A ace.
