Chelsea are “preparing” a €60m (£53.6m) offer for Atletico Madrid playmaker Koke, reports El Gol Digital.

The Spanish publication claim that the Blues are confident of beating off the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona to the 25 year old’s signature, who they say is in his last season with Atletico, despite only having signed a new seven year contract in May.

Koke is a regular in the Spanish national side after being given the unenviable task of taking over from Barca legend Xavi in the heart of the midfield, but he has demonstrated his talents for both club and country over the past few years.

For Atletico, he has helped the Spanish side to two Champions League finals, a La Liga title, a Spanish Cup and the Europa League while for Spain, he now has 36 caps.

Chelsea are believed to be interested in Koke to bring some youth and greater attacking quality in the middle of park, while he also has the defensive attributes which manager Antonio Conte demands from his players.
