Chelsea will battle it out with Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester United to sign Fulham left back Ryan Sessegnon, according to Daily Telegraph journalist Matt Law.

The report suggests that Sessegnon is seen as the ideal replacement for Danny Rose at Spurs but Mauricio Pochettino’s side will not have it all their own way in the race to land the 17 year old.

The Fulham defender has had an excellent start to the season at the Championship club, having scored four times and provided two assists in 21 games. 14 of those starts have been at full back but seven have come further forward as a winger. He scored a hat trick against Sheffield United in a 5-4 away win last week, and he would no doubt ideally suit the wing back positions employed by Blues boss Antonio Conte.

Whether he will be a January target for Conte, it remains to be seen. The Telegraph estimate that Fulham would only consider proposals above £30m, and if reports are to be believed Chelsea are still pursuing a deal for Juventus’s Alex Sandro who plays in the exact same position on Sessegnon, suggesting the England under 19 international is not a priority for the Blues.
