The agent of midfielder Franck Kessie has explained why the Ivorian international opted against signing for Chelsea and other major European clubs before making the move to AC Milan in the summer.

The 20 year old was subject to a €25m bid from the Blues last year when he was at Atalanta but the midfielder subsequently secured a €28m switch to Milan back in July.

Kessie became a hugely sought off player after a breakthrough season with Atalanta where the holding midfielder scored four goals in the first three Serie A games. Although his goals dried up, he still performed well as he helped his side to a fourth place finish last campaign.

Speaking to Italian radio station Radio Crc (via Calciomercato.com) about Kessie’s transfer to Milan, George Atangana said that the Serie A side’s desire to sign the midfielder, meant that the player was keen to make the move to the San Siro:

“Big clubs always want to sign top talents and there wasn’t only Napoli on him. He evaluated many different offers and projects before making his final decision.”

“He chose Milan since it was the start of a new and exciting project. They had been following him for some time and they moved quickly to get him.”

Kessie has made a good start to his time at Milan, having scored two goals and provided two assists in 12 league games so far.
