Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata is up against Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne for the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award for September.

The Spaniard put in some great displays over the past month, with a sublime hat-trick in the 4-0 win against Stoke City, and another crucial goal in the 2-1 away victory against Leicester City.

Morata has settled into English football incredibly quickly, while it must be said that the other five candidates on the list have had at least two seasons playing in the Premier League. There was even some negativity not so long ago surrounding the 24 year old. His missed penalty in the Community Shield against Arsenal back in August led some to question whether the Blues would regret not landing Romelu Lukaku. There were worries about signing a player for £60m who had never been a club’s number one striker.

Certainly manager Antonio Conte has placed a lot of faith in the forward, and it seems that his trust in the Spanish international is justified. A crucial strike in the outstanding away win against Atletico Madrid, combined with early season goals against Burnley and Everton, means that Morata now has seven goals in his first nine appearances for the Blues.

Many Chelsea fans will be no doubt be asking that if this is what he is capable of whilst adapting to the Premier League, how good will he be when he settles into his surroundings?

His unfortunate hamstring injury picked up in the defeat to Manchester City will hopefully not set him back for long, and Blue supporters will be hopeful that he will be back raring to go very soon. The striker will no doubt be extremely pleased with his first few months at the club. Chelsea fans can vote Morata for the Fans’ Player of the Month by clicking on his image below:
