Tottenham will make a move for Everton midfielder Ross Barkley during the January transfer window, according to the Mirror. Chelsea were close to signing the 23 year old on deadline day back in August but the transfer fell through.

The Blues are however interested in reviving their move for the England international, but Spurs could have the upper hand in negotiations with Barkley believed to be keen to link up with manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentinian manager has developed a reputation for getting the best out of young players, and the midfielder could see a switch to Tottenham as a better option than Chelsea.

On deadline day, it was reported that Blues boss Antonio Conte had failed to keep his phone on when Barkley tried to contact the Italian about making the switch to Stamford Bridge. It was later revealed by the Times however that the Blues had asked Conte to stay out of the transfer negotiations for the midfielder.
