Liverpool have joined Chelsea and Juventus in their pursuit of Uruguayan striker Gustavo Viera, according to the Corriere Dello Sport.

The 16 year old has featured for his Uruguayan club (also called) Liverpool in the Copa Sudamericana over the past few months. Viera’s team faced Brazilian club Fluminense over two legs in the first round of the continental competition, losing 2-1 in the tie with the teenager making a substitute appearance in both games.

Calciomercato.com reported yesterday that his displays have impressed Juve scout Pablo Longoria. The Serie A club are believed to be keen to offer a deal to the forward when the January transfer window opens.

With Premier League rivals Liverpool now also seemingly in the race to sign the striker, the competition for the young South American is getting pretty heated, and the Blues may have to move fast if they want to keep the Uruguayan under 17 out of the clutches of their rivals.
