Juventus are lining up a January bid for young Uruguayan forward Gustavo Viera, according to Calciomercato.com.

The Italian website reports that the 16 year old has also been scouted extensively in recent months by the likes of Barcelona, Chelsea and a number of other Premier League clubs.

Juve are however keen to beat their rivals to sign Viera when the transfer window reopens. He currently plays for a team in Uruguay’s capital Montevideo called Liverpool, and had begun to establish himself in the first team at the back end of last season.

It was his performances playing for Uruguay’s under 17 side that have really caught the eye of Juventus scout Pablo Longoria. Viera has so far played 15 times for his country at youth level, scoring two goals.

The Uruguayan starlet will however not be at the Under 17 World Cup, which starts tomorrow, as Uruguay did not qualify for the tournament in India.
