Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has asked for a scouting report on Red Star Belgrade striker Richmond Boakye, according to Ghanasoccernet.
Boakye was signed by Conte for Juventus in 2012, but was loaned out to Sassuolo and Elche during his two year spell with the Serie A club. Since moving to Red Star, initially on loan, in January, the 24 year old has scored 25 goals.
Due to his prolific run in front of goal (which has included eight goals in the Europa League this season), Ghanasoccernet report that Conte has asked Chelsea’s scouting department to assess Boakye’s progress, and a scout will be sent to the Europa League group stage double header against Arsenal.
The Gunners face Red Star in Belgrade next Thursday, with the second game at the Emirates coming on the 2nd November. Boakye may be being considered as an option to strengthen the club’s forward line, with the club having to rely on just one fit striker in Michy Batshuayi after losing Alvaro Morata to a hamstring injury.
