Chelsea will revive their attempts to sign Alex Sandro in January despite the Brazilian being close to signing a new contract at Juventus, according to the Mirror.

The defender is said to be closing in on a £5m a season deal to stay at the Serie A champions but Mirror journalist Darren Lewis says the full back remains “intrigued” by a move to the Premier League, which gives the Blues some hope of landing the 26 year old.

A £60million offer is believed to be in the works for January, partly to persuade manager Antonio Conte into staying after a number of disputes over player recruitment in the summer.

Sandro was Conte’s number one target before the start of the season but Juve’s refusal to sell meant Chelsea did not land the player before deadline day in August.

The Brazilian international is again performing well for the Italian club this season. He has played seven times in all competitions so far, scoring one goal and providing two assists.
