Chelsea are among four Premier League clubs tracking Middlesbrough defender Dael Fry, according to Daily Mail journalist Simon Jones.
The Blues will have to battle Manchester United, Everton and Leicester City for the 20 year old, who has broken into Boro’s first team this season under manager Gary Monk.
The centre back has been chosen ahead of much more experienced players such as Daniel Ayala and Ryan Shotton; starting nine league games so far this campaign.
Fry was however benched for the club’s last league game against Brentford, but the 2-2 draw may prompt for calls for the youngster to be reinstated into the starting lineup alongside captain Ben Gibson at the heart of the defence.
The defender’s performances have also led to his first call up to England’s under 21 side. He made his debut for Aidy Boothroyd’s team against the Netherlands in a 1-1 draw back in early September, and he has been recalled for this week’s games against Scotland and Andorra.
