Chelsea are unlikely to sign Barcelona B striker Abel Ruiz, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Catalan newspaper reports that the Spaniard is keen to remain at Barca and sign a new contract. His current deal expires in 2019 and the player’s current release clause is said to have tempted the likes of the Blues, Arsenal, Manchester City and Juventus.
Ruiz has however indicated to the La Liga side that he wants to stay and continue his development at a team he has been at since the age of 12. The 17 year old is currently at the Under 17 World Cup with Spain.
The forward captains the side and has an impressive record at Under 17 level, having scored 18 times in 29 appearances for his country. He did not score in the club’s opening match of the World Cup in the 2-1 defeat to Brazil but managed two in the 4-0 win over Niger in their second group match of the competition.
