Chelsea are among four clubs lining up a summer bid for Napoli forward Dries Mertens, according to the Corriere del Mezzogliorno (via Calciomercato.com).

The Belgian international will be available for just €28million next summer due to a clause in his contract, which he signed with the Italian club last May.

Along with the Blues, Arsenal, Manchester United and Barcelona are all looking at the 30 year old. The striker has been incredible form since being converted from a winger by Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri last year.

Over the last two seasons at club level, Mertens has scored an impressive 43 goals in 57 appearances. Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is reportedly frustrated by the lack of striking options at his disposal after losing out on Fernando Llorente in the summer, and the Belgian’s potent goalscoring threat will no doubt be an attractive proposition for the Blues boss, especially as he can play right across the forward line.
