Chelsea are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen winger Julian Brandt, according to Bild (via Calciomercato.com).
The German international was heavily linked with a switch to Liverpool and Bayern Munich in the summer but he announced before the start of the season that he wasn’t ready to leave his current club.
The Blues have been tracking the 21 year old since 2013 when the teenager was in the youth ranks of Wolfsburg. The winger made the switch to Leverkusen for €350,000 in 2014, and has become a first team regular for the Bundesliga club.
Not only has he established himself in the German top flight, but he already has 12 senior caps for Germany with manager Joachim Low selecting him in the starting eleven for the team’s last World Cup qualifying match against Azerbaijan last week.
So far this campaign, Brandt has made nine appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and providing four assists. He has just under two years left on his contract with it currently due to expire in June 2019.
