Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo travelled to Romania to watch Florinel Coman play in the Bucharest derby last Sunday, according to Daily Mail journalist Simon Jones.
The Steaua Bucharest winger played 64 minutes against city rivals Dinamo before being substituted in the 1-0 win. The 19 year old has only recently signed for the club after making the switch from league champions Viitorul Constanta for €2m back in August.
Following Emenalo’s visit, Coman started once again against Sepsi yesterday, providing an assist in the 4-0 win. He is rated so highly by his new club that they have inserted an £88m release clause in his contract, with comparisons made to French starlet Kylian Mbappe.
While Mbappe is starring for both Paris Saint-Germain and France however, Coman hasn’t had a senior cap for Romania, and has five under 21 appearances to his name. In ten appearances for his new club, he hasn’t been able to get off the mark just yet either.
