Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale is said to be keen on a move back to Tottenham if he leaves the Bernabeu, dealing a blow to Chelsea and Manchester United’s chances of signing the Welsh international.

Spanish publication Don Balon is reporting that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is considering selling the 28 year old next summer following a number of years of injury problems.

Bale could also be considering a change of scenery in the hope of changing his fortunes. The winger is currently sidelined with a muscular problem which has meant he has missed the last two La Liga matches. Prior to that, he had started the season injury free, making nine appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and contributing four assists.

His injury however also forced him to miss out on Wales’s crucial qualifiers against Georgia and Republic of Ireland earlier this month. The defeat to Ireland at the Cardiff City stadium last week meant Bale’s side missed out on the playoffs for a place at the World Cup.
