Juventus left back Alex Sandro will reject a higher salary from Chelsea in order to sign a contract extension with the Serie A champions, according to the Corriere Dello Sport.

Multiple reports in recent days have revealed that the Brazilian will be offered a new five year contract worth €5million a season. It will make him the third highest paid player at Juve behind Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala, and it is believed this has convinced the 26 year old to stay at his current club.

The Italian side are optimistic they have secured the deal after having extensive conversations with the player’s agent. Both CEO Beppe Marotta and sporting director and Fabio Paratici have held talks with Sandro’s representatives, and they are reportedly very confident that the defender will sign on the dotted line.

It is no secret that Chelsea remain determined to sign Sandro but if the contract is signed, Antonio Conte will have to move on to other targets. Napoli’s Faouzi Ghoulam has been linked as an alternative target in recent days with the Algerian international’s contract expiring in the summer.
