Napoli left back Faouzi Ghoulam looks set to sign a new deal worth €2.5m a season but he could have a new buyout clause, according to Il Mattino.
The Italian publication says that the Algerian international has agreed to a new five year contract, keeping him at the club until 2022, but his agent Jorge Mendes wants two release clauses included in the deal.
The first one is believed to be for top clubs which could be set at €40million, while another for smaller clubs has been proposed at €27million.
Chelsea and Liverpool are both reportedly interested in the 26 year old, with the player’s current deal expiring at the end of the season. The Blues have been pursuing Juventus’s Alex Sandro but the Brazlian is reportedly close to signing a new contract.
Ghoulam could be a potential alternative option for Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, and the €40m release clause would certainly work out a lot cheaper than their pursuit of Sandro.
