Inter Milan remain very interested in signing Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen, according to Tuttosport.
The Serie A club are seeking a long term replacement for Brazilian Joao Miranda who is 33, and will be 35 at the end of his contract in 2019. There has been some consideration of extending the defender’s contract by an additional year, Tuttosport reports, but Inter are aware that the centre back is in his twilight years and will need to be replaced soon.
Christensen is a primary candidate because of his age. He is only 21 and already has experience of the Bundesliga, and the Champions League, with Borsussia Monchengladbach, where he spent two seasons on loan.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is reportedly a big fan of the Danish international, and the centre half has already started two Premier League matches against Burnley and Tottenham this season.
Christensen is only one of four possible candidates though, Tuttosport says, with Toulouse’s Issa Diop, Dinamo Zagreb’s Filip Benkovic and Atletico Madrid’s Jose Gimenez all also being considered. Gimenez is the likeliest for Inter to target as the Uruguayan’s contract expires at the end of the season.
