AC Milan will consider an approach for Chelsea manager Antonio Conte if they dispense with the services of current boss Vincenzo Montella, according to the Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The Rossoneri have already suffered two defeats in their first six league games of the season despite spending €200million on new players over the summer, and it is believed that the club’s Chinese owners are already impatient with the lack of progress.

Conte raised eyebrows in an interview yesterday when he commented that he would not stay away from Italy for too long as he already feels “nostalgic” about his homeland.

The Blues manager is not the only option that Milan are considering though. Former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti, who is currently in charge of Bayern Munich, is also being suggested by La Gazzetta as a possible candidate. The Italian managed the Serie A side between 2001 and 2009, winning two Champions League titles during his time at the San Siro.
