Chelsea wing back Victor Moses has warned new team mate Davide Zappacosta he won’t give up his place in the starting line up without a fight.
The Italian international signed from Torino on deadline day for an initial £25m, but speaking to the Evening Standard, Moses says he is ready to take the 25 year old head on in the race for selection this season:
“I am ready for the competition. We needed more players, to be honest. We have a lot of games to play this season. You can’t expect to play 60 games or so. I’m ready to take on anyone that is coming here. I just want to play my football.”
Zappacosta is untested at the highest level. So far in his career he has played for mid table Serie A clubs in Atalanta and Torino and has never played in a European competition.
He has however begun to flourish as an attacking full back in recent seasons, and after making his debut for Italy last November, he now has five caps for the national side. As Moses says, he will no doubt be needed as Chelsea attempt to fight for trophies in four competitions this season,
