Chelsea have still not agreed compensation with Exeter City for youth star Ethan Ampadu despite the player moving to Stamford Bridge back in July.

The Sun report that the 17 year old could make his debut against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup tonight as manager Antonio Conte looks set to place his faith in the club’s youth players in the early rounds of the competition.

As Ampadu was under the age of 21 when he signed for Chelsea, Exeter are obliged to receive compensation for coaching the player at youth level. The League Two club are however demanding £3m for the player, which the Blues are refusing to pay.

It means that, in a similar situation to Liverpool’s signing of Dominic Solanke, the decision on compensation will go to a tribunal.

Midfielder Ampadu actually made his senior debut in the League Cup last season, playing against Brentford as a 15 year old before going on to make another 12 appearances for Exeter.
