Chelsea are among a number of clubs watching striker Edinson Cavani’s situation at Paris Saint-Germain, according to the Daily Mail journalist David Kent.

The Uruguayan international had a major falling out with star forward Neymar during PSG’s 2-0 win over Lyon at the weekend. There was a dispute over who should be taking penalties for the French side; an argument which Cavani won. Neymar’s mood would not have improved however when his team mate missed the resulting spot kick.

PSG do not want to lose Cavani, and the club’s President Nasser Al-Khelaifi was quick to deny to that there is still a problem between the Uruguayan and Neymar. The Ligue One club are however under pressure to start balancing the books, in line with Financial Fair Play (FPP) rules, after the hefty outlays on Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

The likeliest players to depart in January are believed to be Angel Di Maria, Lucas Moura and Julian Draxler, but the situation with Neymar could change things. In addition to the Blues, Cavani’s former club Napoli, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus and Inter Milan could all look to make a move for the 30 year old if he does become available in the next transfer window.

The striker has been in excellent form for Unai Emery’s side, having scored nine goals in eight appearances for PSG so far this campaign.
