Real Madrid are likely to pull out of the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani, according to Don Balon.

The Daily Mail linked Chelsea with a January bid for the Uruguayan international after it was reported that the forward had fallen out with new team mate Neymar.

The Blues are likely to have one less team to worry about if Don Balon‘s information is correct. Real’s president Florentino Perez was keen to strengthen the club’s forward line in the January transfer window after failing to replace Alvaro Morata in the summer, with Cavani his preferred choice.

The dip in form of Gareth Bale was said to be a contributory factor in pursuing the PSG striker, but it seems that resistance from the Welshman, Cristiano Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane will likely stop the transfer from going ahead.

Perez is said to be concerned about disrupting dressing room harmony but most importantly, he doesn’t want to upset Ronaldo who he is trying to persuade into signing another new contract.
