Manchester United will rival Chelsea, and a number of other top European clubs, in the race to sign Italian wonderkid Pietro Pellegri, according to Calciomercato.com.

The 16 year old scored twice for Genoa at the weekend in the 3-2 defeat to Lazio, and his performances are being monitored by teams across the continent. The Corriere Dello Sport reported back in June that Pellegri was being watched by Chelsea but Calciomercato believe that Manchester United are also extremely keen.

AS Monaco look to be the team to beat however with the French team having already tried to negotiate a deal for the forward over the summer, Calciomercato reports. Due to his latest exploits with Genoa, another attempt to sign the player is likely in the near future.

The Italian Under 17 international may however want to stay closer to home if he chooses to switch clubs, and it is also believed that Serie A big hitters Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan are all keeping tabs on the forward’s progress.
