Chelsea striker Diego Costa has denied that he holds any bitterness towards Blues boss Antonio Conte over his departure from the club.

The Spanish international revealed a text from Conte in June in which he told the striker he was deemed surplus to requirements at the club. The Chelsea manager then later confirmed however that it was agreed in January that the 28 year old would leave the club at the end of the season.

The protracted transfer saga took three months to resolve with Chelsea finally agreeing a £53m with Atletico Madrid to sell the forward. Speaking about his relationship with both Conte and Chelsea to Splash News (via Sky Sports), Costa said he is not upset about his treatment by the club:

“There’s nothing of the sort there, I’m not upset with anybody, I have no bitterness towards anyone. Everything is cool.”

Earlier in the summer, Costa expressed his frustration about not being allowed to switch clubs due to Chelsea effectively pricing him out of a move, but now a transfer fee has been agreed, and a move in January all but finalised, it seems the striker is now keen to put things behind him.
