Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has been fulsome in his praise for defender Cesar Azpilicueta after his performances for the Blues so far this season.

The Italian has praised the Spaniard for being one of the best players in the world in his position and that it is “a dream” to work with such an outstanding individual.

The 28 year old, who was made vice captain by Conte at the start of the season, scored in the 6-0 drubbing of Azerbaijan champions Qarabag in the club’s first group stage match earlier this week. He has also provided two assists for Alvaro Morata in the past two Premier League matches against Everton and Leicester City.

After coming to the club as a right back, and then being selected by previous coach Jose Mourinho as a left back, he has now firmly established himself as a centre half in Conte’s three man backline.

Here’s is some of the Twitter reaction to Conte’s comments and his display against Qarabag on Tuesday night:

Even some opposition fans were quick to praise the Spaniard.
