Roy Keane gave Chelsea defender David Luiz both barrels after the Brazilian gave away a penalty against Atletico Madrid last night.

The 30 year old dragged down Lucas Hernandez from a corner to give Atletico a first half penalty, which forward Antoine Griezmann duly dispatched to give the La Liga side a 1-0 lead in the Champions League match.

Speaking about the incident as his role as a pundit on ITV’s Champions League highlights show (quotes via the Mirror), Keane said Luiz’s actions were an act of cheating and were a result of laziness:

“It’s madness really. It’s a form of cheating. Why he’s doing it is beyond me. He’s lazy and he’s letting his team-mates down. He knows himself. There’s no need. We see a lot of that going on, so I’m glad he got punished for it. It’s a form of cheating.”

Chelsea still managed to recover from the setback of going 1-0 down however, and second half strikes from Alvaro Morata and Michy Batshuayi gave the Blues a deserved 2-1 victory in Atletico’s first defeat at their new home, the Wanda Metropolitano.

Fans were also not too happy about David Luiz’s actions if we go by the reactions to the penalty incident on Twitter:

Others weren’t so quick to criticise the player though:
