Chelsea legend Ray Wilkins believes that Diego Costa is currently a better option than the club’s current first choice number nine Alvaro Morata.
The £60m signing from Real Madrid has been criticised for lacking the physicality of the club’s previous no.1 frontman, and Wilkins says that the 24 year old could have been used by manager Antonio Conte as a partner for Costa, rather than as a direct replacement.
Costa is reportedly closing in on a move to Atletico Madrid after being told at the start of the summer that he could leave Stamford Bridge. Marca are reporting that the Spanish side have offered a deal that would total €65m (£57.3m) including add-ons, and that a deal could be finalised very soon if the Blues agree to the proposal.
Wilkins seems to want the striker to stay at the club, but Chelsea fans are more split on the matter. Here is some of the Twitter reaction to the comments.
Costa is too much of a lose cannon id have to choose morata

Morata, less hassle, better link up play and will get around as many goals as Costa.

Morata has had only a handful of games, maybe this is a question for the end of the season? Personally I'd have Costa, tried and tested
