Chelsea winger Willian came in for some heavy criticism for his display against Arsenal at the weekend.
The Brazilian international was substituted after 70 minutes by Antonio Conte, and he was replaced by Eden Hazard. The 29 year old was named player of the season just two seasons ago but his form in the final third at the start of this campaign seems to have deserted him so far.
In seven games for the Blues this season, the midfielder has yet to score a goal, although he has provided two assists. With Hazard returning to full fitness, and looking likely to start matches in the not too distant future, it seems that either the Brazilian or Pedro will have to be satisfied with a place on the bench to make way for the Belgian star.
The Twitter reaction to Willian’s recent displays has not been kind, although there are some fans who are defending the winger’s performances:
I will never understand the Willian hate or slander tbh

Gary Cahill and Willian should be playing FA Cup and Carabao

We really needed another winger man. Willian and Pedro are so bad when they are not at all in form. Should have taken a shot with Mahrez.

Hazard did more in 10 mins than what Willian did in 70.
