Tottenham are looking to head off the likes of Chelsea, Barcelona and Crystal Palace to sign Ajax centre half Davinson Sanchez, according to the Sun.

The newspaper are reporting that Spurs are keen on the Colombian international as they look to strengthen their back line after losing Kyle Walker to Manchester City.

Sanchez was used mostly as a centre back by Ajax last season, although he can also play at right back, offering Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino more options in defence.

Sanchez was integral to Ajax’s march to the Europa League final last season  and he played 45 games in all competitions for the Eredivisie side during his first year in European football.

Barcelona reportedly remain interested in the 21 year old despite the player having turned them down to move to the Netherlands last summer. Crystal Palace meanwhile are tracking the defender due to manager Frank De Boer’s connections with his former club,

Chelsea’s interest in Sanchez emerged at the end of last season with Catalan newspaper Sport saying the Blues were likely to be Barca’s toughest competitors in the race to sign the centre back.
