AC Milan have entered the running to sign Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Catalan publication have repeatedly insisted in recent weeks that the 25 year old is going nowhere but it seems the arrival of former Tottenham player Paulinho from Chinese Super League club Guangzhou Evergrande has proven the final straw.
Don Balon reported yesterday that Roberto was unhappy at being left out of the starting line up for Barca’s 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup, and it seems he now wishes to leave before the end of the transfer window.
In addition to Milan, Chelsea, Manchester United and another Serie A team Juventus are all reportedly keeping a close eye on developments. The midfielder has a release clause of €40m (£36m) and despite wanting to offer the Spanish international a new contract, Barcelona are powerless to stop the player from leaving if a club matches the buyout fee.
