Marseille have offered €30m (£27.6m) for Chelsea striker Diego Costa, according to Gol TV (via Foot-sur7 .fr).

The Ligue One side are owned by American businessman Frank McCourt and the American TV channel reportedly have an inside track on the French side’s bid for the Spanish forward.

It’s no secret that Marseille are interested in the 28 year old after the club’s president Jacques-Henri Eyraud revealed earlier this week that they would look to do a deal for Costa if the conditions are right.

Chelsea are said to be looking for £50m for the striker so it is likely that Marseille’s offer will be rejected, especially considering it’s not much more than Atletico Madrid’s initial bid, which is Costa’s preferred destination.

With no agreement between Chelsea and Atletico seemingly on the horizon with just seven days before the end of the transfer window, there is the concern that Costa won’t be offloaded in time. A loan deal until at least January to another team is also likely being considered by the Blues but so far there have been no real developments on that front.
