Chelsea, Manchester United and Juventus do not have a realistic chance of signing Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto this summer, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Despite the Spaniard having a €40m buyout clause currently, Barca are said to be confident of the player signing a new deal, and will not consider selling him to any interested clubs.

The Catalan media have been very contradictory in their reporting of the 25 year old in the past few days. While Mundo Deportivo have generally reflected the La Liga’s club’s thinking on the matter, Sport has taken a different perspective.

The rival Catalan publication may have some inside knowledge from the player’s end of things as they have asserted in recent days that Roberto is concerned that he may not figure in new manager Ernesto Valverde’s first team plans.

The Spanish international is said to want to stay at the Camp Nou but that could change if he doesn’t feature prominently in the club’s first few matches of the season, starting with the Spanish Super Cup against Real Madrid on Sunday.
