Deportivo La Coruna approached Atletico Madrid about taking Chelsea striker Diego Costa on a six month deal, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Spanish club were enquiring about making a similar agreement that Atletico made with Las Palmas for Vitolo. The Sevilla winger was released from his contract and allowed to join the Canary Islanders in July. Atletico will pay Las Palmas and Sevilla the midfielder’s buyout clause and sign the player in January when their transfer ban is lifted.

It seems however Depor’s offer was not entertained by Atletico as the Spanish club are still trying to negotiate a transfer fee with Chelsea for Costa. In Vitolo’s situation, the existence of the buyout clause meant an agreement between three clubs was easier to establish, but the Blues have not yet been satisfied by a bid for Costa from Atletico.

The club have reportedly fined Costa two weeks wages after the 28 year old refused to report for training in London. The forward remains in Brazil hoping that Atletico come to an agreement with Chelsea before August 31st.
