Atletico Madrid could look to re-invest the money from the sale of Luciano Vietto in a bid to match Chelsea’s asking price for striker Diego Costa, according to AS.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed that Sampdoria have made a bid of €16m for Vietto and AS believe this could pave the way for Atletico to make a decisive move for the Chelsea outcast.

Costa hit out at his treatment by the club and manager Antonio Conte in an interview with the Daily Mail, but the lack of bids that match the Blues’ valuation of the player has meant the 28 year old remains in Brazil, waiting on a switch to happen before the close of the transfer window in two weeks time.

The player has expressed his desire to only join Atletico and it is hoped that if the Spanish side do indeed sell Vietto to Sampdoria, they will then up their bid for Costa and end the summer long transfer saga.
