Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande are considering a proposal to sign Chelsea striker Diego Costa on a six month loan deal, according to Don Balon.

The Spanish publication say that Atletico believe they are close to sealing a permanent deal for the 28 year old, worth €45million, but they are still mulling over the options for where the forward will be playing for the first six months when the club’s transfer ban is still in force.

Atletico are looking at whether Costa could train with the La Liga club until the FIFA sanctions are lifted, but there is concern that he could lose form and match sharpness.

The alternative has been to seek a loan spell away from Atletico. AC Milan has been talked of as a possible destination but it has become apparent that the Italian side would want the player on a permanent contract.

Deportivo La Coruna are another club that have offered their assistance but Atletico don’t want the player playing for another team in Spain. The switch to China is therefore seen as the preferred option, although the season does end in early November which would leave Costa with the best part of two months without first team action.
