Chelsea will only look to sign Antonio Candreva before the end of the transfer window if they fail in a bid to sign Leicester City’s Danny Drinkwater, according to the Sun.

Considering the players play in two different roles it seems surprising that manager Antonio Conte would prioritise the signing of one over the other.

Candreva can play in a number of positions, including as an attacking midfielder, winger and wing back, but it seems the Blues are not looking to make multiple signings to strengthen the depth in their squad.

Chelsea have been locked in negotiations with Leicester City over Drinkwater for a while. The club’s first bid was reportedly £15million, according to the Daily Telegraph, but the Sun believe that the Blues are preparing to pay over double that sum with a new £32million offer in the works to persuade the Foxes into selling the 27 year old.
