Goal.com are reporting that Manchester United have beaten Chelsea to the signing of Paris Saint-Germain full back Serge Aurier.

Journalist Loic Tanzi says that the Ivorian international is poised to sign a five year deal with United but the offer still hinges on the 24 year old having his assault conviction successfully overturned on appeal. The defender will not be able to secure a UK work visa if he has a criminal record.

Losing out on Aurier will be seen as another setback for the Blues who have already missed out on two other right backs in Dani Alves (Paris Saint-Germain) and Danilo (Manchester City) this summer.

Southampton full back Cedric Soares could be the next on the list if the Aurier deal does indeed end in failure. The Portuguese international was first linked to Chelsea in July, but there hasn’t been any talk about the player since then with Aurier seemingly being the priority.
