The sale of France international centre back Adil Rami to Marseille will prompt Sevilla to make a move for Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma, according to AS.
Reports in France suggest Marseille are seeking to agree a fee with the La Liga side for Rami in the region of £3.5m to £5m, and it seems that once the 31 year old’s switch to Ligue One is finalised, Sevilla sporting director Oscar Arias will then seek a replacement.
AS suggest Zouma will be the club’s primary target, although they also say Sevilla are not in a hurry to sign a new defender. They were not previously planning to make any acquisitions for the defence, but the sale of Rami will change matters. It’s likely that the Spanish club will look to draw up a list of targets before making a decision on who they will pursue this summer.
With Chelsea’s £34m capture of Antonio Rudiger, Zouma’s ambitions of regular first team football next season are likely to have been scuppered, and Sevilla may see it as an opportunity to land the 22 year old.
