Manchester City have joined the race to sign Real Madrid full back Danilo, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

The Italian website reports that Dani Alves’s decision to snub City in favour of Paris Saint-Germain has prompted manager Pep Guardiola to switch sights to a fellow Brazilian.

Reports from Danilo’s home country are suggesting however that Chelsea are poised to sign the 25 year old. UOL Esporte are saying that the Blues and Real are close to agreeing a €30m fee after the La Liga club had initially demanded €40m. The Brazilian news outlet also report that personal terms are already being discussed between Chelsea and the player.

Serie A champions Juventus were initially the front runners for the former Porto defender as they sought a replacement for the PSG-bound Alves. The Italian club only can sign one more non-EU player, and they have opted to sign Brazilian winger Douglas Costa from Bayern Munich instead.
