Lazio have entered the race to sign Chelsea striker Loic Remy, according to the Corriere Dello Sport.

Reports from Turkey yesterday indicated that Besiktas were the front runners for the 30 year old with a £3.5m being prepared for the forward, but the Italian newspaper suggests Remy will be considered by Lazio as a potential alternative to Sardar Azmoun.

The Iranian international Azmoun has been linked with the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal in recent months, but has recently returned to Rubin Kazan after a two year loan spell at FC Rostov.

Rubin are a rich club and don’t need to sell Azmoun despite Lazio proposing a deal of up to €18million for the forward. The cheaper alternative seems to be Remy.

The former QPR player has been included in Antonio Conte’s pre-season tour of Asia, but with the striker having just one year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge, it is likely he will be offloaded before the end of the summer transfer window.
